How to watch the $10,000 EGC Stormgate Open: Livestream options, start times, and more

Last week, EGCtv, a well-regarded tournament organized in the Age of Empires space, announced that they would be hosting the first major Stormgate tournament during the Steam Next Fest, featuring some of the best players, casters, and hosts from across the RTS sphere.

How to watch the $10,000 EGC Stormgate Open

The $10,000 EGC Stormgate Open will be played over the course of two weekends - February 10-11 and February 17-18, which some TBD extra days for Starcraft II players who will be playing in IEM Katowice during that first weekend. That SC2 playin date is not public yet, but this article will be updated when we know more! The games will stream on EGCtv's Twitch and Youtube channels, and will also be open to community broadcasters - although the extent of that involvement is still to be announced. StormgateNexus will also have complete coverage of the event - make sure to check in here to stay up to date with scores, meta developments, and all the juicy details!

Who's Playing?

As the name suggests, the $10,000 EGC Stormgate Open will be open to all players during the Steam Next Fest period - which means it is open to everyone in the world. There will be a separate qualifier for Starcraft II players competing in IEM Katowice - so you can expect to see players like Clem and Serral on top of the standouts from previous playtests like PartinG, Kiwian, or Mixu. This event promises to be an exciting mix of entrenched RTS pros and newer names to the scene!

EGC Open Format

While nothing has been confirmed, it seems likely that the first weekend will be a massive open bracket for all competitors in the style of the old MLG open brackets. From there, we can expect it all to narrow down to somewhere around 16-24 players for that second weekend. That second Saturday should have one day of group stages (likely GSL groups) before moving into a Round of 8 playoffs run on Sunday. If anything changes, we'll be sure to let you know!
